We were looking for a restaurant who still offered their regular menu on Nee Year’s Eve, which State and Main does. Their menu had something that pleased everyone. The pricing is reasonable and the service was awesome on this stormy night. Our waitress was fun, easy to joke and chat with, and attentive to all of us in her section. We tried their Pistachio Crusted Salmon, Whiskey Peppercorn New York Steak, and the Grilled Chicken Club. Every choice tasted wonderful and the plates were cleaned off, but we likely won’t redo the Whiskey Peppercorn sauce or the Pistachio crusted topping; neither hit the spot for us. I must add though that the salmon and the steak were cooked to perfection!

Had my lunch here when it was past lunch time. All I wanted was soup and was disappointed because there was only one type of soup on the menu. So I decided to go with the Chicken Teriyaki Bowl. Really like the combination of veggies and the presentation of the dish. The veggies and the chicken were cooked to just the right doneness! Unfortunately the sauce was a little bit too salty and too much of the sauce made the rice below all soggy. But I enjoyed the ambiance and the excellent service I received from the servers there. Worthwhile place to visit again to explore other dishes.
We stopped in at State & Main in Kitchener and were really happy with the overall experience. We ordered the Pretzel Bites, Baja Fish Tacos, The Main burger, and the Grilled Chicken Club. The Pretzel Bites were a great start—soft, warm, and perfectly salted, paired with a delicious beer cheese dip that had just the right amount of tang. The Baja Fish Tacos were fresh and flavorful, with crispy battered fish, creamy avocado, and a crunchy slaw. They came with fries, which were tasty and paired well with the garlic aioli, though the portion of fries was on the smaller side. The Main burger was a solid classic—two juicy patties, melty cheese, and a nice balance of toppings. The Grilled Chicken Club was another standout, especially with the addition of avocado and peppered bacon, which gave it a nice savory punch. Service was friendly and attentive throughout, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. We’d definitely come back—especially for that aioli!
I haven't had a burger this good in a long time. My fiancé and I loved this place and it's ambiance, we definitely plan to come back soon. Our server, Parker, deserves more than 5 stars. He was everything you want in a server - attentive, polite, fun, and gave great reccomendations when asked! Also worthy to note, the fries were amazing, Caesar salad was made just right, and even something about the burger buns was top-notch. We would highly reccomend!
My husband and I are moving to Kitchener soon and decided to check out the new neighborhood. We had a delicious lunch at State and Main today. We shared the beef dip and they were kind enough to put into 2 portions. I had a frozen Margherita that was awesome. 100 percent recommend.
The soup dumplings were good, and I’d get them again, though they didn’t have much soup inside the actual dumplings. The tuna poke bowl was a bit too sour for my taste. The service was great—our server/bartender was friendly, and everything came out quickly. It was very quiet for a Friday afternoon, with only one other table besides us. The interior was clean, and there was plenty of parking available. Overall, a solid spot with a relaxed atmosphere.
We decided to try them out. Overall experience was great minus some minor things. Service was a bit slow and unorganized, but I also dont think they expected a busy Monday. The server, however, did make up for it with his energy and kindness. The drinks were great, and the food was overall amazing. We started with the calamari and tuna tar tar. Both were delicious, but the calamari definitely tasted better dipped in the tuna tar tar chili oil. We had the empire state and beef dip for mains. Ordered steak rare. It was a bit over cooked and under seasoned, but it was still good. Asparagus was, unfortunately, very bland under cooked and woody for its size. The mashed potatoes where however delicious and tasty. Beef dip all around was very delicious and great all together. Fries were nicely seasoned and cooked nice and golden. Overall, I would recommend this place. The experience was overall great, and all the other dishes around us smelled amazing.
